As I’m teaching during this week’s A-May-zing Sketch Camp, I keep coming back to one of the core pillars of my scrapbooking philosophy: the big moments—those milestone birthdays, the graduations, the big trips—yes, they absolutely deserve a spot in our albums. But it’s the little moments that quietly carry the most meaning.
As I’ve been teaching this week inside A-May-zing Sketch Camp, I’ve found myself reflecting on one of the pillars I return to again and again in my scrapbooking journey: yes, the milestones matter—but so do the little moments.
Sketch Camp is always such a fun, creative burst of energy. We dig into techniques, try new ideas, and bring layouts to life—but more than anything, it reminds me why I fell in love with memory keeping in the first place. It’s not just about the photos. It’s not just about the paper. It’s about the stories.
Take my Day 1 layout, for example. The title is simple: Today, this happened.

There was no big event behind it. Just a quiet, peaceful day at the lake. Nothing major happened… but as I started adding photos, one moment stood out—one that turned this layout into something deeply personal.
There, front and center, was a photo of my sweet Obi. We just recently lost him, and seeing that picture stirred up a lot of emotion. The lake was his happy place. He was always up for a swim—even when we weren’t totally thrilled about it (soggy dog = wet car, LOL).
Creating this page reminded me: it’s these quiet, everyday moments that often mean the most in hindsight. No balloons. No party. No big headline. Just a dog loving life at the lake, a memory frozen in time… and one that I’m now so grateful I captured.

That’s the real magic of scrapbooking. We don’t always know which moments will become the most meaningful. That’s why I believe in documenting the ordinary—because one day, it might not feel so ordinary anymore.

So if today feels quiet or “not scrapbook-worthy,” take a second look. What little moment made you smile? What detail do you never want to forget?
Because today, this happened—and that might just be enough.
